Spiral Wound Gaskets for High Temperature Applications | Euroseal® Double Seal-T

The evolution of spiral wound gaskets

• Double sealing element.
• Reduced clamping load thanks to the inner camprofile ring.
• It does not require any specific line changes.
• Resistant to the most critical conditions.

Euroseal® Double Seal-T – Spiral Wound Gaskets for High Temperature Applications

Spiralwound gaskets for high temperature service represent an advanced technical solution for extreme industrial applications, where sealing performance is challenged by severe thermal cycles and elevated temperatures. General Packing Italy, through its Euroseal® product line, offers the Double Seal-T: a gasket designed to ensure maximum reliability even under the most demanding operating conditions.

High-Performance Technical Specifications

The Double Seal-T gasket consists of a spiral winding in 316L stainless steel with Euroseal® graphite or Thermoseal filler, combined with a camprofile inner ring coated in Thermoseal, a high-temperature resistant material rated up to 850°C.

Material configurations may vary depending on the operating environment.

This construction ensures a dual sealing barrier:

  1. The Thermoseal-coated camprofile inner ring provides the primary seal and protects flange surfaces from corrosion and abrasion.
  2. The spiral winding acts as the secondary seal, offering resilience and elasticity under all service conditions.

Technical FAQ

What is a Double Seal-T spiral wound gasket?

The Euroseal® Double Seal-T is a high-performance spiral wound gasket designed for heavy-duty applications. It consists of a metallic spiral with filler and an inner camprofile ring coated with Thermoseal, ensuring dual sealing: primary on the inner ring and secondary on the spiral.

What are the advantages of the Double Seal configuration compared to a standard spiral wound gasket?

The Double Seal configuration provides enhanced sealing thanks to two independent sealing elements. The Thermoseal coating on the inner ring protects flanges from corrosion and abrasion, improving gasket durability and increasing plant safety.

Under which operating conditions is the Double Seal-T recommended?

The Double Seal-T is suitable for plants exposed to strong thermal variations and high pressures, such as refineries, chemical plants, power stations, and energy sectors. It is also ideal in the presence of aggressive fluids or high-temperature steam.

Is the Double Seal-T certified for high-risk environments?

Yes. It is certified according to VDI 2440 – 2200 for fugitive emissions and API 6FB for fire resistance, ensuring compliance with the strictest safety standards in critical applications.

What is the supported temperature and pressure range?

  • Temperature: −100 °C to +850 °C
  • Maximum pressure: up to 170 bar

These values make the gasket suitable for a wide range of demanding operating conditions.

Where is the Double Seal-T gasket mainly used?

It is employed in highly critical industrial environments such as:

  • Chemical and petrochemical plants
  • Refineries
  • Power stations
  • High-temperature process lines
  • Heat exchangers and critical piping

Are there variants of the Double Seal for other fluids or operating conditions?

Yes. In addition to the Double Seal-T (Thermoseal/Mica), the following variants are available:
