What is Garlock GYLON® Style 3510?

GYLON® Style 3510 is a flat gasket made of PTFE filled with barium sulfate, developed to deliver superior performance in the most demanding industrial applications. In the presence of aggressive media, thermal cycling, and variable operating conditions, conventional PTFE tends to deform over time (creep phenomenon), compromising sealing performance.

The introduction of the mineral filler significantly reduces this behavior, making the material more stable under load. The result is a gasket capable of maintaining bolt load over time and ensuring reliable, long-lasting sealing performance even in continuous service.

Technical Characteristics and Operating Limits

From an operational standpoint, GYLON® Style 3510 offers a very wide temperature range. It can operate at extremely low temperatures down to -268°C and maintain its performance up to +260°C, with an optimal continuous service limit around +204°C.

In terms of pressure, the material provides excellent performance, with a maximum rating of up to 83 bar and optimal operating conditions around 52 bar. The PxT value, representing the combined pressure-temperature limit, reaches high levels, making this product suitable for demanding applications.

These characteristics allow GYLON 3510 to operate safely even under fluctuating conditions where other materials may lose effectiveness.

Physical Properties and Mechanical Behavior

From a sealing perspective, the material exhibits highly reliable behavior. The combination of controlled compressibility and good elastic recovery allows the gasket to conform to flange surfaces and maintain sealing stress over time.

Technical data shows extremely low leakage rates, indicating effective sealing even in continuous service conditions. This is a key factor in reducing fugitive emissions and improving overall plant safety.
