Euroseal® 2333 Anti-Corrosion Graphite Packing – Maximum Sealing, Active Corrosion Protection

Euroseal® 2333 is an anti-corrosion graphite packing developed by General Packing to provide an optimal balance of mechanical strength, compressibility, and chemical durability.

Each yarn consists of a synthetic graphite core, jacketed with Euroseal® expanded mineral graphite, combining the tensile strength of the former with the cohesion and compressibility of the latter. The result is an elastic, easily compressible packing that delivers highly effective sealing for valves and pumps in complex systems.

A distinguishing feature is the presence of two longitudinal zinc wires, acting as sacrificial anodes. This configuration offers active protection against electrolytic pitting, extending the service life of metal components even in chemically aggressive environments.

Technical Advantages of Using Euroseal® 2333 Anti-Corrosion Graphite Packing

  • Hybrid structure: synthetic graphite + expanded mineral graphite for excellent mechanical and thermal performance.
  • Self-sealing: high compressibility eliminates the need for frequent retightening.
  • Active protection: zinc sacrificial anodes defend against corrosion.
  • Natural anti-extrusion: maintains shape and function under heavy stress.
  • Low sulfur content: significantly reduces the risk of electrolytic corrosion.

Technical FAQ

What are the main applications of Euroseal® 2333 packing?

Euroseal® 2333 is ideal for static and dynamic applications on valves and pumps in petrochemical plants, refineries, and power stations. Thanks to its anti-extrusion structure and chemical resistance (pH 0–14), it is suitable for severe operating conditions.

What temperatures and pressures can it withstand?

Euroseal® 2333 resists temperatures up to 450 °C in oxidizing environments and up to 650 °C in steam. It withstands pressures up to 280 bar on valves and 25 bar on pumps.

What is special about its composition?

Each strand is made of synthetic graphite yarn coated with expanded mineral graphite. This combination ensures high tensile strength, excellent compressibility, and total sealing against fluids and gases.

How does Euroseal® 2333 packing protect against corrosion?

The packing incorporates two zinc filaments that, due to their higher reactivity, corrode instead of the surrounding metals. This mechanism provides effective protection against localized corrosion phenomena, such as pitting, extending the service life of metallic components.

Is it suitable for pumps as well as valves?

Yes. Euroseal® 2333 is designed to deliver high performance even in dynamic pump applications, thanks to its elasticity, sealing capability, and extrusion resistance.

What are its chemical properties?

Euroseal® 2333 offers full chemical compatibility across the pH 0–14 range, maintaining stability even in highly aggressive environments.

Is it available in different sizes?

Yes. It is available in standard sections from 3 mm to 25 mm. Larger sections are available on request to meet specific plant requirements.
