Technical FAQ

What is Euroseal® 2320 packing and how does it differ from other graphite packings?

Euroseal® 2320 is a braided packing produced through an exclusive process that combines expanded mineral graphite and synthetic graphite. This formulation gives it a unique combination of thermal conductivity, mechanical strength, and compressibility, making it suitable for both valves and rotary pumps without the need for frequent re-tightening.

What advantages does the mixed composition of mineral and synthetic graphite offer?

Mineral graphite ensures excellent heat dissipation generated by the shaft’s rotary motion, while synthetic graphite strengthens the structure by increasing tensile resistance. The result is a high-performance packing that maintains efficiency even under demanding conditions.

For which applications is Euroseal® 2320 recommended?

Euroseal® 2320 is particularly recommended for high-speed dynamic applications on rotary pumps and for use on industrial valves. It is an extremely versatile product that helps reduce stock levels thanks to its suitability for multiple applications.

What are the operating limits of temperature, pressure, and speed?

Euroseal® 2320 can be used from −240 °C up to 650 °C with steam, and up to 1650 °C in non-oxidizing environments. It withstands a maximum pressure of 280 bar on valves and 25 bar on pumps, with a peripheral speed up to 22 m/s.

Is Euroseal® 2320 suitable for high-speed rotary pumps?

Yes. It has been specifically designed for dynamic conditions. Its composition ensures optimal heat management and a low coefficient of friction, making it ideal for high-speed rotary pumps.

Is re-tightening required after installation?

No. Euroseal® 2320 maintains its shape and sealing capability after the initial installation, eliminating the need for additional tightening. This feature simplifies use and reduces maintenance time.

What sizes and packaging are available?

Euroseal® 2320 is available in standard sections from 3 mm to 25 mm, in packaging from 2 to 4.4 kg. Larger sizes above 25 mm are available on request.

Is it compatible with chemically aggressive environments?

Yes. Euroseal® 2320 has a pH range of 0–14 and is suitable for aggressive fluids. In addition, the graphite used has negligible sulfur content, reducing the risk of corrosion.

Does Euroseal® 2320 require the use of top-and-bottom anti-extrusion rings?

No. Thanks to the mechanical strength provided by synthetic graphite, Euroseal® 2320 can be installed without anti-extrusion rings, even in complex applications.
